At whatever age children begin pre-school they will have had a range of different experiences from their experiences from families and culture and will develop varied interests and skills. Side by side children at this stage cannot make any distinction between ‘play’ and ‘work’. They only need time to become engrossed, work in depth and complete activities – thus they learn and achieve, and consequently the learning objectives are attained.

Children aged three to five years are constantly encountering new experiences and are seeking to understand them in order to extend their skills, develop their confidence and build on what they already know.
